December Series: Light of the World
Every Sunday in December
Connection Point is a 4-week course where we share the vision and purpose of our church. You will learn more about City Point and our vision as well as a focus on how to grow in your relationship with God. We also look at discovering our purpose & gifting’s and we show you practical steps to utilize your gifts to build the Kingdom of God and find true purpose. It takes place DURING the 11:45 service. Connection Point begins the first Sunday of every month with Class 101. If you have questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fall crispness is in the air. (It’s happening somewhere in the United States right now.) Leaves are changing. Pumpkin versions of every tasty treat. Thanksgiving must be right around the corner.
And that means time to reflect on all we are thankful for. Our preschoolers will hear the stories of Hannah, the ten lepers and Naaman’s dip in the river. Of course, we cannot celebrate this time of thankfulness without the story of the first Thanksgiving, complete with Pilgrims and the Mayflower.
Don’t miss the Thanksgiving parties in class on Sunday, November 13th. Gobble Gobble!
All month, our littlest turkeys will be learning how God created each of them unique and special. Songs, Bible story time, and playful activities will emphasize God is the Creator of all people.
Be sure to take a moment to say a little “thanks” to those who are meaningful in your life- maybe even our faithful Preschool and Kid’s volunteers!
It was great to a have a visit recently from Brian and Ruthie Gomez, our missionaries to Spain. They shared with City Kids about the work they do and also gave a chance to connect names with faces. City Kids has taken up offerings for and supported Brian and Ruthie as a part of giving projects during VBS. Many of our kids knew about them and finally got to meet them.
As for our Gospel Project journey, Brian and Ruthie’s work fit into the narrative we were already studying. God pursued His people, calling them to Himself with Hosea, as well as, sending people out to reach others like Jonah to the Nineties. The prophet Joel continues to show how much God loves and desires for people to turn to Him. We’ve had a “big question” in City Kids each week, which is, “What is God like?” It’s an important question. The answer could mean the difference between choosing to follow God versus, hiding or running away from Him. The answer, taken not only from the Bible stories we’ve looked at, but also from direct quoting of the Scriptures is, “God is slow to anger, merciful, and loving. (Joel 2:13) God is a holy God and a God of justice. However, he is also eager to forgive us when we turn to him. In the light of Joel’s message, which warned to “Return to the Lord while there is time” (Joel 2:12), we must remember that Joel also reminds us that Jesus is coming back. When exactly will that be? Only the Father knows. Please pray for our kids as we present the gospel to them. Pray that the seeds we are planting of who God is and what he is really like will be rooted deep in their hearts. Kids don’t need to wait to experience God now.
Remind your kids to bring their Bibles each week. Also, if you feel a nudge come and join our team, let us know. City Kids is a great way to get connected. All adult participants will be given a background check. Junior high helpers are also welcome. Contact Joel or Cheryl at email@example.com

Expansion & Giving
We are so excited that the giving campaign for our expansion into the warehouse, (attached to our current location), launched on January 31st. We will use our current auditorium as our new kids & youth worship space. The addition of the warehouse will double our adult seating, new kids/youth auditorium and triple our parking. We have raised half of our funds through pledges and offerings. We will give updates monthly. You can give towards the expansion via text by texting the word EXPAND or give online to Building Fund. Our goal is to raise $200,000 by December.
We have two convenient ways to give outside of service:: You can text the amount you want to give to (972) 330-2495. You will be guided through the easy steps, and it is simple and secure. You can also click the button below to give online.
