What do you do when there’s nothing you can do? What do you do when there’s no way forward and no good way out? There are problems for which there are seemingly no solutions—where there are questions, but no answers. We will take a look at how we handle moments when we can’t see a clear path to the other side. In this series, we will see what to do In The Meantime.

On April 22nd, Earth Day, we got to be a part of helping our community. Last year we were able to adopt Prestige Circle, so we had a team out cleaning up our street. Then we had another team sorting clothes to bring to Trusted World here in Allen. We were able to collect 21 large bags of clothing to donate! It is truly a privilege to be able to give back to Allen.

Motherhood is like planting seeds and watching them grow. It takes patience and faith. Mothers want the trees they have planted to flourish and bloom and produce good fruit. This month, our 4’s thru Kinder class will take a closer look at a few famous mothers in the Bible. We’ll see how Sarah, Rebekah and the widow with one last jar of oil handled the challenges of motherhood. ALSO, join us to celebrate our own Mothers on May 14th and spread a few seeds of love.
The 3’s class will receive their marching orders this May when they learn about Joshua and the walls he faced in Jericho. Joshua’s mother had to have been so proud of this mighty warrior!
Our littlest daisies won’t miss out on all this mommy fun! We’re freshening up our curriculum this month with the story of Hannah and her prayer for a baby. These little ones will know God hears and answers prayer!
Interested in planting some seeds of love in our Preschool Department? We have available positions open and you could be the right fit! Serve once or twice a month, lessons and training provided. Would the egg crack? Using tape, tissue, rubber bands and straws, kids got to try their hands at crash test engineering. Following Easter Sunday, the kids did their best the stave off the effects of an impending egg fall. We had a lot of fun dropping the eggs to see the results. Many eggs did not make it, but many were protected very well.
In a similar way, we all try to protect ourselves from cracking under the pressure of temptation. How can we keep from cracking under the pressure when temptation comes? City Kids explored how Jesus was tempted by the devil in our most recent Gospel Project lesson. Jesus rejected the devil’s attempts using the Word of God. When the pressure is on, it’s not just a matter of trying harder and doing better. It’s taking the strength God gives us through Jesus and being ready to remind the devil of what God has already said.
In Club 56 our preteens recently looked at the difference between competency and character. Which one should define us? It’s an important question.
One is about our abilities and one is about who we are all the time. In the struggle to define our identity, what we do and who we are is inseparable. One flows out of the other. Pray that our preteens receive that “true identity” from Christ.
City Kids is a great place to connect with other believers and make a great impact. Come check us out. We’d love to meet you.
