City Point Turned FOUR on January 29th

City Point turned FOUR last month! We had a great time celebrating all God has done over the last 48 months.  If you missed our church birthday party be sure to check out this video and hear some amazing stories from City Point families.

Preschool Corner

Friendship is a beautiful thing. Good friends can enrich your life. Call you out when you’re wrong. And comfort you when you need it. Jesus calls us friends. February seems a perfect month to learn about some true friends in the Bible. Jonathan & David, Ruth & Naomi, and four faithful friends who went to great lengths to help a brother find Jesus. Your preschoolers will learn the value of friendship and how a good friend sticks closer than a brother!

Our littlest sweeties will also discover God’s love for others through the story of Zacchaeus. We won’t be hanging out in any trees, but we’re definitely gonna color some!

No Valentine’s month is complete without a little party! Bring the kiddos Sunday, February 12th for our annual Valentine’s Parties in class, packed with games, fun crafts and treats! Hope to see you and a friend!

City Kids

Great things are happening in City Kids. We are expanding with Club 56, a new 5th & 6th grade class starting at the end of February. Our pre-teens will be discovering Jesus’s mission at 12-years-old, “I must be about my father’s business.”

We are also hitting a significant milestone with our Gospel Project. In the next few weeks we will be completing our chronological walk through the Old Testament and begin going through the New Testament. Amazing! Each kid should be collecting their own folder of bible cards to track our progress. If your kids have missing cards, they will have opportunities to restock in the weeks ahead. We will provide instructions through email and when you come to drop off or pick up. We want every kid to have their own full complete set.

Also, the next Dry Gulch summer camp installment is due by February 26th. If you know of anyone who still would like to go to Dry Gulch summer camp, June 19th thru the 24th, they can submit a deposit and go on a waiting list. There is no guarantee they will get a spot, but if they do not, the deposit will be refunded. Please let us know A.S.A.P.  if you are considering it. The sooner the better.
Finally, joining the City Kids Elementary team is a great way to get connected. Come check us out. We’d love to meet you. castile@citypointchurch.com

January Series

We’ve all had the experience of putting something together only to have to take it apart and start over. That’s ok if it’s only a gas grill, but it’s not okay if it’s your life.

Your career . . .
Your marriage . . .
Your dreams . . .

How do you break the cycle of mistakes and failed attempts? In this 4-part series, we will look at practical advice to ensure that the next time won’t be like the last time.

2 Great Service on New Years day

Do you have New Years Eve plans? We thought you might be staying up a little later than usual on Saturday night so we have decided to cancel our 9:00 am service and only have our 10:15 & 11:45 service for this Sunday only.

Fasting and Corporate Prayer

We will have corporate prayer meetings during our season of prayer and fasting. The meetings will take place January 8th, 15th, and 22nd from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

City Point Turns 4 on January 29th

City Point turns FOUR this month and we plan to celebrate big on Sunday, January 29th. Join us as we give thanks to God for all He has done over the last 48 months.  The fun will be happening during all three services so pick a time and come join the party at 9:00, 10:15, 11:45.  Be sure and invite your friends & family!

Connection Point – Starting in January

Connection Point is a 4-week course where we share the vision and purpose of our church. You will learn more about City Point and our vision as well as a focus on how to grow in your relationship with God. We also look at discovering our purpose & gifting’s and we show you practical steps to utilize your gifts to build the Kingdom of God and find true purpose. It takes place DURING the 11:45 service. Connection Point begins on January 8th with Class 101. If you have questions, please email us at info@citypointchurch.com.

Baptism

Are you ready to go ALL IN and take your faith public? We will be having water baptism Sunday, February 26th during the 10:15 & 11:45 service. What a meaningful day to take part in a foundational event for a follower of Christ!  If you are interested in being baptized, please text “BAPTIZE” to 972-460-9235.

Preschool Corner

Ripe bananas or rotten bananas? Juicy peaches or squishy peaches? Of course, we all want the tasty fruit!
January will be a fruitful month for our 4’s thru kindergarteners as they learn about the Fruits of the Spirit and how we can produce good fruit. Examples of this crisp, deliciousness include the stories of the Widow’s Mite and the Good Samaritan.

Our littlest blueberries will be taking a ride down the Nile learning about Baby Moses and how God kept him safe or discovering all about Jesus growing up. In preschool and nursery, we’re keepin’ it farm to market fresh!

Interested in producing some love, joy, and peace in our preschool ministry? Contact Alicia Ingram at aingram@citypointchurch.com for more information!

City Kids

With the beginning of a new year, there is the hope of a fresh start. In City Kids our Gospel Project journey takes a look at God sustaining his people while in exile and eventually bringing them back to their own land. It was a new beginning. God had always planned to bring them back just like he always planned to send Jesus. As we start this new year, pray that our kids connect with the truth that Jesus not only saves us, but keeps us in his love. God sustained Daniel from hungry lions. He kept his people while in captivity and he made a way for them to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. Make sure your kids bring their Bibles each week.

Also, Dry Gulch summer camp deposits should already be in. We can still turn in more reservations, but time is of the essence. Reservations are still being accepted. In the next few days, the camp will be full and subsequent applicants will be placed on a waiting list. If your child will be 7 years of age by June 19 and no older than 12, they are eligible to go. Our projected date for camp will be June 19th thru the 24th. The camp is not exclusive to only City Point kids, but others are welcome. If you have neighbors, friends, or relatives that would like to go, please pass on the information to them and let us know about it A.S.A.P.
Finally, joining the City Kids Elementary team is a great way to get connected. Come check us out. We’d love to meet you. castile@citypointchurch.com

⛄ December Newsletter ???? City Point Church ❄

December Series

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year! There are several things that set this season apart. There is music that lifts the soul, decorations that warm the home and a generous spirit that seems to unify everyone. However, Christmas is not celebrated because of what is happening but because of what did happen. Join us for all three Sundays in December and as we let His light shine.

Community Christmas Party- This Sunday!!!

We thought of you and made plans that are guaranteed to get the whole family in the Christmas spirit! We kick off the fun on Sunday, December 4th with a special visit from Santa all morning long and free family photos with the big guy himself. We will also have a Hot Chocolate Bar and an encouraging message about the true Spirit of Christmas.  This event is designed with your friends and co-workers that don’t have a church home in mind. Don’t wait – invite them today!

Family Movie Night

Our Family Christmas Movie Night is back by popular demand – one of our favorite City Point holiday traditions! This year we are offering TWO viewing times – Friday, December 9th at 6:30 pm ( the movie will begin at 7:00) and a matinee on Saturday, December 10th at 1:30 pm ( the movie will begin at 2:00).  You can sign up for your movie time and get a ticket at the link below.  Space is limited so be sure and sign up yourself and your kids and any friends you might want to bring along. Kiddos wear your PJ’s and bring a blanket.  There will be a hot chocolate bar, popcorn, movie candy and a visit from a special train conductor. This event is completely FREE so be sure to invite your friends, family & neighbors!

Candle Light Christmas Eve Services

On December 23rd at 7:00 pm & December 24th at 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm, we will have our Candle Light Christmas Eve services. These services help set the tone for a truly peaceful and joyful Christmas. No matter when you celebrate bring the family and celebrate the season with us!

We will be partnering with Allen Community Outreach by collecting toys for children and teenagers in need. Please bring an unwrapped gift for children and a gift card for teenagers. Our last Sunday to receive donations is December 11th.

We are focusing our energy on our Christmas Eve services so you can enjoy Christmas day with the people you love. Have a wonderful Christmas and we’ll see you back at CityPoint on New Year’s Day at 10:15 & 11:45.

Connection Point – Starting in January

For the month of December, we put Connection Pont on pause but we will begin again in January so make plans to attend. Connection Point begins the first Sunday of every month with Class 101. If you have questions, please email us at info@citypointchurch.com.

Preschool Corner

It’s Christmastime! Our preschool and nursery team love this time of year. The songs, the crafts, the games and the wondrous telling of the birth of our Savior throughout the month of December. Your kiddos will know Christmas isn’t about the candy and toys, but about the best present ever….Jesus!

Be sure to join us on Sunday, December 18th for our fun, festive parties in the 3’s and 4’s-Kinder classes! Everyone leaves with a treat and a little holiday cheer!

City Kids

There’s a lot happening with City Kids in December and heading into the New Year. Our Gospel Project series continues with the Israelite’s captivity in Babylon and their eventual return to their homeland. God sustained his people during 70 years of slavery. As God’s vision to Ezekiel showed, dry bones would once again be made whole, and God would breathe life again into Israel. That hope was a foreshadowing of what God would provide us with Jesus.

Regarding Christmas festivities, our fun “Polar Express” night returns on Friday, December 9th at 7 p.m. and we will have a 2nd showing on Saturday, December 10th at 2 p.m. The hot chocolate and marshmallows will be ready! We will also be having a Christmas birthday celebration for Jesus on December the 18th. Your kids will not want to miss either of these fun events.
Another important announcement for December is that we have started collecting summer camp Dry Gulch deposits.

It may seem premature to be discussing summer camp. However, Dry Gulch is such a popular camp, when the application process opens at the beginning of the year, any available spots will be gone quickly. It is critical that we send in deposits to reserve your kid’s place at camp. If your child is 7 years of age by June 19 and no older than 12, they are eligible to go. Our projected date for camp will be June 19th thru the 24th. Camp deposits are $100 per child and should be turned in by the week of December 11th. The camp is not exclusive to only City Point kids, but others are welcome. If you have neighbors, friends, or relatives that would like to go, please pass on the information to them and let us know about it A.S.AP.
Finally, joining the City Kids Elementary team is a great way to get connected. Come check us out. We’d love to meet you. castile@citypointchurch.com

Uprise

Holiday Break
Uprise Youth had a great semester with our student community groups! We met in homes in Rowlett and Allen for 12 weeks and finished up a great study on who Jesus is. We can’t wait to pick back up next semester when community groups start again so keep an eye out for sign-ups in the new year. In the meantime, the holidays are a great time for students to get involved on Sundays and join a Point Team to serve with.
Email uprise@citypointchurch.com for more info on joining a team or come see Andrew & Liz any Sunday morning.

Summer Camp 2017

Preschool Corner

Fall crispness is in the air. (It’s happening somewhere in the United States right now.) Leaves are changing. Pumpkin versions of every tasty treat. Thanksgiving must be right around the corner.

And that means time to reflect on all we are thankful for. Our preschoolers will hear the stories of Hannah, the ten lepers and Naaman’s dip in the river. Of course, we cannot celebrate this time of thankfulness without the story of the first Thanksgiving, complete with Pilgrims and the Mayflower.

Don’t miss the Thanksgiving parties in class on Sunday, November 13th. Gobble Gobble!

Nursery News
All month, our littlest turkeys will be learning how God created each of them unique and special. Songs, Bible story time, and playful activities will emphasize God is the Creator of all people.

Be sure to take a moment to say a little “thanks” to those who are meaningful in your life- maybe even our faithful Preschool and Kid’s volunteers!

City Kids

It was great to a have a visit recently from Brian and Ruthie Gomez, our missionaries to Spain. They shared with City Kids about the work they do and also gave a chance to connect names with faces. City Kids has taken up offerings for and supported Brian and Ruthie as a part of giving projects during VBS. Many of our kids knew about them and finally got to meet them.

As for our Gospel Project journey, Brian and Ruthie’s work fit into the narrative we were already studying. God pursued His people, calling them to Himself with Hosea, as well as, sending people out to reach others like Jonah to the Nineties. The prophet Joel continues to show how much God loves and desires for people to turn to Him. We’ve had a “big question” in City Kids each week, which is, “What is God like?” It’s an important question. The answer could mean the difference between choosing to follow God versus, hiding or running away from Him. The answer, taken not only from the Bible stories we’ve looked at, but also from direct quoting of the Scriptures is, “God is slow to anger, merciful, and loving. (Joel 2:13) God is a holy God and a God of justice. However, he is also eager to forgive us when we turn to him. In the light of Joel’s message, which warned to “Return to the Lord while there is time” (Joel 2:12), we must remember that Joel also reminds us that Jesus is coming back. When exactly will that be? Only the Father knows. Please pray for our kids as we present the gospel to them. Pray that the seeds we are planting of who God is and what he is really like will be rooted deep in their hearts. Kids don’t need to wait to experience God now.

Remind your kids to bring their Bibles each week. Also, if you feel a nudge come and join our team, let us know. City Kids is a great way to get connected. All adult participants will be given a background check. Junior high helpers are also welcome. Contact Joel or Cheryl at castile@citypointchurch.com

Uprise

Uprise Night – Wednesday, November 30th
Uprise Night is a monthly event for all Junior High & High school students to connect with God & each other. Each month will have a different Uprise Night theme that will encourage students to take their “next step” in their life with Christ. Student Community Groups

The Rowlett Community Group meets every Tuesday night from 7PM – 8:30PM while the Allen Community Group meets every Wednesday night from 7PM-8:30PM. October Series

We will have two series in October. The first one is Crazy Like Us. What’s crazy? We will look at a couple of principles in October that may lead you to redefine what is crazy. What if our definitions in life are reversed? What if what we consider crazy is normal and what we consider normal is crazy? Join us every Sunday in October and let’s find out if you are crazy.
Everybody wants to be happy. Everybody is on a happiness quest. For many, happiness is measured in moments and experiences. It’s elusive. Unsustainable. What about you? What makes you happy? In this study, we will reveal what makes you happy. We explore the three things all happy people have in common. Then we discover how these three things can be realities for you as well.

We kicked off a new 12-week semester of Community Groups on September 4th that will end on November 20th. You can register online at www.citypointchurch.com and click the Connect tab. It’s not too late to find a group so register today and make some new friends!

Connection Point

Connection Point is a 3-week course where we share the vision and purpose of our church. You will learn more about City Point and our vision as well as a focus on how to grow in your relationship with God. We also look at discovering our purpose & gifting’s and we show you practical steps to utilize your gifts to build the Kingdom of God and find true purpose. It takes place DURING the 11:45 service.

Connection Point begins the first Sunday of every month with Class 101. If you have questions, please email us at info@citypointchurch.com.

Preschool Corner

In Bible times, the world was a bit of a scary place. Encounters with giants. Fiery Furnaces. Lion’s dens. (Not necessarily the friendliest of environments.)Today is really no different. Bullies. Wars. Bad weather. Bad breath. Constant threats in our day and age.

It could be easy for an adult to be fearful, not to mention a young child. But one Person is constant and never changes through all times and ages….our Father God.

This month, your 3’s-Kindergarteners will discover the bravery of Queen Esther, the boldness of David, the faithfulness of Daniel, and the courage of three Hebrew men who would not bow down. Their trust was in God alone, and He made them strong and brave. God wants us to walk in that perfect peace and strength that comes from Him alone.

We’ll see giants fall, and lions lay down and breath mints consumed!

Nursery News
The love of God can be communicated to even the tiniest babies. That’s why every child at every age will participate in an engaging, interactive Bible lesson.

In October, our nursery babies, toddlers and two’s will be learning about all the wonderful animals God created. Songs, Bible story time, and playful activities will emphasize God is the Creator of all living creatures.

City Kids

God is a revealer! As much as we want to see God, he does reveal himself to us. In City Kids we’ve been looking at the evidence found in Scripture, which points to God showing himself, and ultimately pointing to Jesus. God showed himself as the one true God by fire from heaven on Mount Carmel. He then revealed himself to Elijah in the wilderness as a whisper.  He showed himself as a healer to Naaman by taking away his leprosy. The Prophet Isaiah saw a vision of God seated on his throne in heaven. Time and time again, we see God revealing himself. Our key passage in Hebrews 1:1-2 says it this way, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.” (NIV)
One of the truths that emerge in seeing that God reveals himself to us is that he pursues us. That’s amazing! Because of his great love, he goes after us. City Kids is launching off into our next unit of the Gospel Project where we see that God pursues people. What a great message and so needed for today!

Remind your kids to bring their Bibles each week. Also, if you feel a nudge to come and join our team, let us know. City Kids is a great way to get connected. All adult participants will be given a background check. Junior high helpers are also welcome. Contact Joel or Cheryl at castile@citypointchurch.com

Beginning Sunday, October 2nd City Point will be collecting new teddy bears to be used for the 24th annual Teddy Bear Drive – these bears will be given to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County. Please bring your new bear to the City Kids service any Sunday until October 23rd.

Please join us in supporting this awesome community event. We’ll see you Sunday!

September Newsletter – City Point Church

September Series

It’s a common misperception that the Christian life is all about avoiding messes and staying out of trouble. It turns out that our mess and the messy people you meet along the way may actually be why Jesus came. In this 4-part series, Pastor Eddie reminds us that following Jesus isn’t about avoiding something; it’s about becoming something.

We kick off a new 12-week semester of Community Groups on September 4th that will end on November 20th. You can register online at www.citypointchurch.com and click the Connect tab. Register today and make some new friends!

This semester is going to be awesome!

Clothes for Kids

We have an opportunity coming up on October 1st to help change a child’s school year. We have partnered with other area churches to sponsor back to school clothes for children in need. We hope to sponsor 25 children for $100.00 each to buy new clothes for school. We will meet on Saturday, October 1st at Kohl’s in Plano on McDermott and take each individual child shopping to help outfit them for school. You can help in two ways. 1) Financially sponsor a child for $100.00 2) Be a shopper on that morning and help a child pick out their new clothes. We will be sharing more details in our services.

Who is the Holy Spirit? What is the role of the Holy Spirit? What does being led by the Spirit Mean? What are the gifts of the Holy Spirit? We hear many of these questions often as a church. I think we can more easily understand the role of our heavenly father, and we identify with His Son Jesus. However, many believers are not sure how to relate to the Holy Spirit. It is clear in scripture that he is to play a significant role in our lives. In fact, Jesus said it was to our advantage that the Holy Spirit would come. The spirit of life… the essence of truth… the voice of God. He has always been here, and will always remain. If you have a curiosity about the Holy Spirit, we have just the thing for you. In September we will have a 4- week class to take a look at scripture to help us to understand the Holy Spirit. Explore the power and comfort of the one who resides within. Join us on Wednesday evenings – September 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th from 7:00 – 8:00 at the church. Please register by texting the word “SPIRITLED” to 972-460-9235.

Baptism

Are you ready to go ALL IN and take your faith public? We will be having water baptism Sunday, September 25th during the 10:15 & 11:45 service. What a meaningful day to take part in a foundational event for a follower of Christ!  If you are interested in being baptized, please text “BAPTIZE” to 972-460-9235.

Worship Night

Join us for a night of worship with the CityPoint band on Friday, September 16th at 7:00pm.  Childcare is provided for babies through 5th grade. This night is hosted by the Restore Ministries.

Preschool Corner

City Point Church has an amazing team of volunteers who teach your little ones the Word of God at every age-level.

This month is no different. The 4’s thru Kinder class, will be learning about obeying God. There are countless examples in scripture about obedience and disobedience. Samuel, Samson, Jonah and a talking donkey illustrate the importance of obedience beautifully, not to mention how great God is. I mean… who gets swallowed by a whale and lives to tell the tale? Who has ever had a donkey talk to them? Strength in hair? That’s some pretty good biotin Samson was taking! To quote a phrase from one of our worship songs in class… “Obedience is the right thing to do. Thumbs up, yes, it is true!” We’re going to have a whale-y good time this month!!

Kids are like sponges. They mimic the people and things all around them. This is perfect timing to teach them God’s love. Our 3-year-olds will be exploring the ark Noah built and discovered that God is always with them. Our babies thru 2-year-olds are going to know all about this great, big world God created. Music, movement, Bible-time and crafts help reinforce God’s goodness every Sunday!

We have some great serving opportunities in our preschool area for the 1st and 3rd services! Start looking at how you could plug in! Contact Alicia Ingram at aingram@citypointchurch.com.

Join the Team!
Interested in being a part of the team who teach children lessons like the ones just mentioned? We’d love to meet you! Please contact Alicia Ingram at aingram@citypointchurch.com for more information!

City Kids

School is in session! Summer vacation was great, and now it’s “back to the books.” In City Kids, we’ve been learning about the wisdom books of the Bible. Whether it’s the wisdom of Solomon in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, or the hard questions of life Job encountered, a steady theme continues to emerge. There is only one God and without his gift of salvation through Jesus, life has no real purpose. In Job 9:33 Job cries out, “If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together.” Jesus is that mediator! Our Gospel Project journey will now head deeper into the period of the kings and prophets of the old testament. God raised up the prophet Elijah with a very simple but profound choice for his people. Who would they believe? King Ahab and Queen Jezebel had led God’s people into sin and idol worship, but God was using Elijah to bring them back. A challenge on Mount Carmel occurred, and God demonstrated that he alone is God. Pray for us as we continue to teach those fundamental truths from scripture and that our kids will experience the revelation of who God is in their lives.

Remind your kids to bring their Bibles each week. Being a part of the City Kids ministry is a great way to serve. If you have an interest, come and talk to us. All adult participants will be given a background check. Junior high helpers are also welcome. Contact Joel or Cheryl at castile@citypointchurch.com

Uprise – Community Groups

We are so excited about some new changes to Uprise this fall. We are taking on a new model that we believe will help your students feel connected, experience God & develop spiritually. Up until this point, we met every Sunday night from 5:30PM-7:00PM. However, over the past few months we have seen that Sundays are challenging when you factor in all of the holidays that prevent us from meeting on a regular basis. So we have decided to move Uprise to Tuesday & Wednesday nights from 7:00PM-8:30PM.

FEEL CONNECTED
We really believe the best way for your students to feel connected at Uprise is to launch student Community Groups. Just like City Point’s Community Groups, our Community Groups will meet in semesters:
Fall Semester – 12 weeks
Spring Semester – 12 weeks
Summer Semester – 6 weeks
During these semesters, students will meet at a host home. To make things easier for families who live farther away, we will launch with two community groups this semester. One group in Rowlett on Tuesday nights and another in Allen on Wednesday nights. Small group leaders will be there to facilitate Bible-Studies and group discussions. These groups will be a great opportunity for students to invite friends from school to come experience a casual environment talking & learning about God.

EXPERIENCE GOD
We also understand how important it is for students to be able to come together and experience God through passionate worship and a powerful message. That’s why we will also have Uprise Nights, which will be gathering nights for all those in a community group to come together for a big service. Those will be held on Wednesday nights from 7PM-8:30PM at the church. Our first Uprise Night will be Wednesday, September 7th. We are going to kick off the semester with a bang so make sure they bring some friends! We will have food, games, door prizes, and a giveaway for the person who brings the most guests.

DEVELOP SPIRITUALLY
We believe that one of the best ways for your students to develop spiritually is to get plugged in to & serve at the local church. A great way to do that is to serve on the Point Team! We have Connection Point classes the first three weeks of every month during the 11:45AM service. It is a great opportunity for your students to find out more about City Point, find out what gifts and talents God has given them, and see how they can begin to use those gifts and talents. We would love to have all of the students go through Connection Point during the month of October and help them find an area that they can serve on Sundays. We will have pizza for all the students after Connection Point classes each week in October.

We are so excited about this new change and what God is doing in the lives of our students at CityPoint!

Mark Your Calendar:
September 7th- Uprise Night at City Point
September 13th & 14th- Student Community Groups launch
October- Connection Point Student Takeover
